My father is ill, I’m taking time off to be with family.

It’s Alive !

I’m happy to report good news.  The engine on the Speer fired up and runs like a charm.  The torque numbers are amazing, acceleration is smooth, everyone is pleased and Fairbanks Morse has given their stamp of approval.  The crew of the Speer is happy as they were prepared for a couple days of “working out the kinks”.  Instead, they are taking advantage of the warm weather and are breaking in the engine by taking turns water skiing.

The cook loves making rooster tails.  Twin V-18 diesels make it easy!  The fun and games on the Speer end this weekend.  The ski ropes will be stowed and the regular season of hauling ore begins.

Break It Up

The Coast Guard ice breaker crunched its way past us this afternoon while I was visiting friends on the Blough. Ryan prepared cod for dinner and a variety of other good things. We enjoyed his cooking, caught up on recent history and had a few laughs. The Coast Guard show was an added bonus on a sunny afternoon.
