New Car Smell

Shane works for Wyoming Public Radio at the University of Wyoming in Laramie. Today he received his new work vehicle, a brand new 2008 Ford Super-Duty three quarter ton 4×4. Immediately after this photo was taken we headed for the hills. The transmitter for KUWR is accessible only by four wheel drive. Of course, we just HAD to go take transmitter readings. Good friends, the great outdoors, the roar of a big V8 and that new car smell. It just doesn’t get any better.

Wedding Cake Surprise

My apartment window faces the door of my landlord’s bakery. She makes wedding cakes and is very generous in sharing her creations. As I was walking into my apartment yesterday she called out, “Alan, did you want to try some cake and frosting?” In record time I was seated at the large stainless steel table sampling wedding cake and a variety of frostings. My favorite is the cream cheese mixture.

I’ll only be here for another month, then it’s back to the farm for harvest. This fall and winter I’ll be sailing again with the fleet. In the time I have left here I’ll be sure to offer my opinion frequently in the kitchen. It’s the polite thing to do.

Back in the Saddle

After a rather abrupt move to a new apartment I’m happy to report I’m settled in. Seems the sublet agreement on the last place was not in the cards for the landlady. The new place is quieter, in a family neighborhood and is close to campus and all other conveninces. Nice place, less money, sweet landlady. Summer is here - no more snow. All is well in Laramie.
