Heads Up

Today we finished removing the heads from the engine.

This photo shows the heads lined up, ready to go out the gangway.
They are on their way to be machined and brought back into spec.

Mike wore his “I Can Fix Anything” shirt today.  He was confident and busy all day.

John removed the first piston just before lunch.  It involves using a manually operated chain hoist, which could be classified as physical labor.  It must be something I said, because I removed the other 15 pistons by myself.  Unless John’s mood shifts, I have another work-out waiting for me tomorrow.  :-)

Day One

Today was the first day of Winter Work.
Several familiar faces arrived at the Blough, ready to overhaul the port main engine.

The rocker arm covers are removed, the first stage of disassembly this morning.

Mike enjoyed a pastry with an extra touch of grease and oil for lunch.

The preservatives in the strawberry filling assure that the petroleum products will be safely carried through the digestive process.

A handful of chips topped off Mike’s healthy lunch choices.

More photos coming soon…of the engine rebuild.
