Enjoying the New Truck Smell

Sometimes things work out unexpectedly well. Not always, but sometimes. This week we bought a semi, with the option to purchase a new trailer. There is usually a waiting list, but a buyer backed out at the last minute, making the trailer available to us.

Charlotte is excited about the light-weight, aluminum design. Sorta.

Loading wheat at the farm
We were fortunate to find a low-mileage truck. I had the rare opportunity to drive the rig on the maiden voyage to the farm, and enjoyed the new smell.

Visitors

Mike and I have been friends for many years. This weekend, he brought his kids to South Dakota for a look at the rural lifestyle. We had fun riding in the combine, meeting Moogie and partaking in the generosity of Gordie and Charlotte. We spent Sunday evening at the lake.

Fletcher loves the water.
Aly, Fletcher and Kaya made new friends and enjoyed the wide open spaces.

Wheat Harvest

I love driving the combine.  We are working long days, but are being rewarded with a fantastic harvest.  This field normally  averages about 50 bushels of wheat per acre.  At this point we are just over the 100 bpa mark.   Lots of smiles, lots of wheat!
